#OO2 | the new beginning
WARNING : MAJOR SPOILERS
In the beginning of PROJECT CAEDIS I didn't know what was ahead of me, I announced that I was working on an animation for killing stalking in March 2O2O with the intention of bringing the manhwa to life exactly how it was intended by Koogi. I was going to simply model the characters & the world and animate the story as a replica.. but after I began pulling apart the characters, studying the environment and dissecting the plot I found a lot of issues.
I see the manhwa with different eyes now, I had to pull back the curtain and see how many strings were being used to pull all the puppets.. it turns out there aren't as many as there should be, and at least, definitely not enough to make this an easy comic-to-movie production. Luckily I love pulling things apart and finding solutions to story problems and innovatively filling in holes with realism and logic. I was happy to take on this challenge to make this something much greater than originally planned.
In future posts I'll be delving into the major internal issues / inconsistencies and how we're planning to solve them to ascend this story into an experience that'll make you physically sick.. If we do this all right ~

[ THE TEAM ]
This started as a one man team relying solely on donations in order to function and achieve a great result without the help of others. I was very aware that at any time the donations would stop completely or decline to maybe a few pounds a month, so I invested in tools and software that would grant me the ability to shortcut work as much as possible. A year later, the support just keeps flooding in! and thanks to every single one of you who donated towards this project, we've been able to grow a small team and build a foundation in order to do this story justice and bring you a harrowing experience you'll find hard to re-live. Here's who we have on the chAos Team for this production so far!

We've got 2 new members on the team! Kadaver who will be designing the hair for the characters and helping me model / refine the humans. He's got 4 years experience with MAYA and zBrush and will be a massive relief to the weight of the production. We also have the Associate Producer Gemin. He's a writer and has won 3 competitions with his stories. He is going to aid in the process of development and this will take a big pressure off me in another area so that I can focus more on animation, directing and composing.
[ THE FUNDING ]
This is the first time I'll be explaining how the funding has actually made a difference for us to proceed with this ambitious project! In the beginning we acquired some of the licences needed to advance the development of 3D production. We now also have multiple 3D models in our possession.

This isn't a comprehensive list but we're going to create a page showing the donators where the money is going and how it's being used to push this whole thing forward. Thanks to the consistent support that you're giving us during this time of non-profit and birthing for the studio we're able to grow faster than we ever thought we could at this stage.
We can't express how grateful we are to you. It really is thanks to your decision to support this indie studio that we're able to produce at this rate and form a team to propel us towards the completion of this production.
So once I sat down and had a hard look at what I was going to be working with I found that there was a lot to plan and resolve. Before we delve into some of the inconsistencies I want to reassure you that I'm not dragging Koogi or trying to belittle her writing, her art or her choices. It's my job to dissect Killing Stalking and be able to rebuild the pieces into something new that fits chAosOPUS. Although this production isn't a part of the chAosOPUS universe and doesn't take place in it's timeline, It's still going to receive the same attention and careful planning as the other stories we create.
In the cO universe all of the humans have vein-blue tongues similar to the Chinese Shar-Pei and the Giraffe. Even though the KS story fits perfectly into our universe we couldn't give the characters such major physical alterations.
So we're keeping this as a separate production but it'll still be in the style of chAosOPUS.
With this now being a rendition and not a replication, we've got a lot of big decisions to make. I have regular meetings with the Associate Producer and we've agreed on many changes to the production since it's original concept. We're not going to alter the core elements, the character's actions, the script or the main events but we are going to take away unrealistic and illogical aspects of the story, expand on the characters personalities to get a deeper understanding of their motives and actions, create a darker atmosphere and set a heavier tone of dread and turmoil.
There is a lot to explain, that's why I've planed future posts to delve deeper into the reasons why we're taking certain steps to fix / alter portions of this story.
